Former Gator standout Craig Brown is in his tenth year as assistant coach with UCF.  He assists with recruiting and opponent scouting.  Over the past seven years, UCF has averaged 20 wins per season

Coach Anthony Grant is in his first year at Alabama after three very successful years at VCU.   Grant had a 76-25 overall record with the Rams, including two NCAA appearances.  They were 45-9 in league play under Grant.  The Crimson Tide are currently 11-5 this year.

Coach Donnie Jones is in his third season as head coach of Marshall.  He has an overall record of 45-33, including a 14-2overall, 3-0 conference record this year.

Coach Lon Kruger is in his sixth year as head coach at UNLV. With a 14-3 record this year, Kruger’s lifetime record is 444-289. After taking the Gators to their first Final Four, Kruger took the Runnin’ Rebels to the Sweet Sixteen in 2006-07.  This year, the Rebels have wins against Louisville and Arizona, and a loss to Kruger’s alma mater, Kansas State.

Former Gator assistant coach Robert McCullum is in his first year as an assistant coach with UCF and Kirk Speraw.  Prior to this, McCullum was the head coach of Western Michigan for three years, and more recently, the head coach of South Florida for four.

Former Gator star Brett Nelson is in his third season as an assistant coach    at Marshall with Coach Donnie Jones.  Prior to this, Brett was the Director of Basketball Operations under former Gator assistant coach Anthony Grant at VCU.

Former Gator assistant coach Tom Ostrom is in his third year as an assistant coach with Coach John Pelphrey at Arkansas.  Ostrom was previously with Pelphrey at South Alabama for three years.

Coach John Pelphrey is in his third season at Arkansas after five seasons as the head coach of South Alabama.  In his first season with   Arkansas, Pelphrey coached them to a 23-12 record.  This year, Arkansas is 7-8.  Pelphrey’s overall record as a head coach is 124-101, with two NCAA appearances.

Former Gator Assistant Coach Lewis Preston is in his second year as an assistant coach at Penn State.

Former Gator staffer Mike Shepherd is in his sixth year as Director of Basketball Operations at UNLV under former Gator coach Lon Kruger. 

Coach Shaka Smart is in his first year as head coach of the VCU Rams, replacing former Gator Assistant Anthony Grant.  So far this year, the Rams are 11-4 under Smart, including quality wins over Oklahoma and Richmond.

Coach Kirk Speraw is in his 17th year as head coach of the UCF Golden Knights.  He is among the longest tenured coaches in the country.  With the Knights, he has won 273 games, including a 9-7 record this year, with quality wins over Massachusetts and Auburn.  His sons, Drew and Dustin both play for the Knights.

Former assistant coach Ron Stewart is in his second year as an assistant coach with the women’s team at the University of Nevada.  Previous to this, he was the head coach of the women’s basketball team at Western Michigan University for 11 years.
